When I first moved into my apartment the staff failed to properly clean and patch/paint my apartment. I was understandably perturbed by this, but after I brought it up they apologized, discounted my first month’s rent, and promised to fix it.

Kinja'd!!!

One of the staff girls said they’d just let me know the day before they were going to patch and paint. 3 weeks have gone by, because they were “waiting on spackle”. This afternoon, while I was out on a post-punchlist inspection, I got a text from the same girl saying that they had patched the holes.

Kinja'd!!!

Dat patch tho...

This kinda pissed me off because my apartment was extremely messy due to work being crazy. Then, when I got home, I found my apartment unlocked... so they entered without asking then didn’t bother to lock the door when they left. The few places they did patch, they spackled super heavy. There’s gonna be dust everywhere tomorrow when they sand and paint, and I’m worried about paint splatter.

Kinja'd!!!

I don’t have dining chairs (or friends) so my new table is currently Hot Wheels storage space.

If it makes you feel any better, your apartment is much nicer than my house

Having spent time as a manager in a multi family environment I can say this is not uncommon. Especially this time of year when budgets are practically spent.

Leaving the door unlocked?

Not giving 24hr notice of entry?

That’s bad news. Someone isn’t paying attention.

That table is frigging awesome!

I will say that it probably didn’t help that the post-punchlist inspection I was on went really badly. I love the apartment, I just get annoyed when people don’t do what they say they’ll do.

Also, you have doggo, therefor your house is pretty cool :)

The girls are all roughly my age or younger, which means they don’t always do things the right way. Not intentionally annoying, just a bit careless.

Also, IKEA table, all solid wood. Best $379 I’ve ever spent.

thats the best part of having an apartment over a house. when things need to be fixed, other people come and do it.

but after they do it, you realize you should have just done it yourself.

In some states management is required by law to provide notice before entering a rented property. The quality of the work doesn’t surprise me. The maintenance guy probably makes somewhere near minimum wage. Source: being a “porter” at an apartment complex during my younger years. That being said, the guy that did the painting in our complex was amazing. He used an airless sprayer and a large painter’s straight edge. No tape required. My job was to make sure there was a tarp on the floor under and ahead of him. We then painted all of the moldings and cabinets in gloss by hand. He was easily twice as fast as I was.

I can understand that. That’s why I try to not get too down on Apt management (Corporate is a totally different story).

Thats from Ikea? I need to revisit that joint!

Fuck, at that point I would just do the work myself.

I wish I had you apartment. I love the repurposed school and that table is OMG!!! Through in the TVR and I’d be set

Update: the sanding and paint is hilariously bad, almost 1/8" proud of the wall in the middle, lol.

Kinja'd!!!

There’s no “maintenance guy” here, the three office girls do it all... badly.

I may re-sand it myself, there is so much excess spackle. It’s like 1/8" thick with a lousy paint job.

I think I would take pictures of their repair, then make the effort to do it right myself. I’m sure that after you fixed the drywall, they would be more than happy to provide the correct shade of paint. I just couldn’t live in that place with that monstrosity hanging out on my wall.
